Classification of material on electrical basis

Classification of material on electrical basis.

The materials are divided by 3 main groups according to electrical basis.

1.conductors

2.insulators

3.semi-conductors

1.conductors:- in those material the current or charges of flow to easier pass through the material is termed as conductors.

Or

They allow electric charges to pass.

They have millions of such electrons which are not associated to any atoms. They can jump from one atom to an other atom continuously in the crystalline structure of conductor they are called free electrons.

Good conductors 1.silver(ag) 2.copper(cu) 3.gold(au) 4.aluminium(al)

Silver and gold are not use because they are more expensive.

Conductors depend upon structure and free electrons.

2.insulators:- they do not allow electric current to pass.

They do not have free electrons, low energy of valence electron, they are bound.

Good insulators:- ceramic, mica, nylon, rubber, wood, plastic, air, etc.

Ceramic and mica they are good insulators.

3.semi-conductors:- neither good conductors nor neither good insulators.

Semi-conductors:- germanium, silicon, carbon, in normal condition these are insulators some certain condition they are conductors or insulators.
